The University of Cádiz begins the improvement process to obtain the seal ‘HR Excellence in Research’

The ‘HR Excellence in Research’ seal is a recognition awarded by the European Commission to publicly recognize research institutions that have made progress in harmonizing their human resources policies with the 40 principles defined in the European Charter for Researcher and the Code of Conduct for hiring researchers.

The process for obtaining this seal began on February 7, 2018 with the signing of the adhesion, by the UCA, to the Charter and the Code of Conduct. This means accepting an initial commitment to improve the recruitment of research personnel, paying particular attention to their working conditions and the development of the research career. To that end, the Strategic Group of Improvement in human resources policies for research personnel has been created (GEM HR Excellence in Research). It is composed by managers and technicians of the Research Vice-Rectorate, the Transfer and Technological Innovation Vice-Rectorate, the Delegation of the Rector for the Strategic Development, the Personnel Area and some researchers and external agents. This Improvement Group will carry out an analysis of strengths and improvement areas supported by a participatory process and it will propose an action plan that will be developed over the next two years. Following the abovementioned plan, the future objectives will focus on improving the transparency of the selection & hiring criteria, developing a career plan for the different profiles of researchers, promoting professional skills and preparing a Code of Good Practices in Research.

The Group has started its tasks with an initial training session given on March 6, 2018, by Laura Valle Cerezo, responsible for the coordination of EURAXESS-Andalucía and Technique at the Andalusian Agency of Knowledge. The group is led by the Directorate of the Research and Transfer Area.
