The University of Cádiz is ranked among the top 1000 universities in the world for the first time. 17 August 2020

The University of Cádiz is ranked among the top 1000 universities in the world for the first time.

The University of Cádiz had already managed to place several of its research areas among the most relevant on the planet.

The University of Cádiz is ranked among the thousand best universities in the world and thus appears for the first time in the 2020 edition of the prestigious Shanghai Ranking (Academic Ranking of Word Universities –ARWU-), published by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.

In recent years, different knowledge and research areas of the University of Cádiz have been appearing in prominent positions in the Shanghai Ranking by subjects. This is the case of Oceanography, where the UCA is among the 150 best universities in the world in 2020, as well as in other subject areas, where it was already among the 400 best universities (Mathematics and Chemical Engineering), ranking between 401-500 best positioned in Engineering in Environmental Sciences. However, up to now, the Cadiz university institution had not managed to enter the top 1000 of the universities with the greatest potential on the five continents, thus achieving an unprecedented milestone in the forty-year history of the UCA.

Further more the subject of Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport has been appearing among the top 100-150 worldwide in the same ranking.

These data confirm once again the scientific growth led by the UCA in recent years.

The Shanghai Ranking includes the projection of universities from the five continents and, among other indicators, assesses the number of graduates from university institutions recognized with the Nobel Prize or the Fields Medal, the articles published in the Nature and Science journals, the number of publications indexed in InCites during the previous year, the highly cited research staff, the faculty awards or the academic performance per capita of each of the institutions listed.
