The UCA, a model of a European university at the International Meeting of the Compostela Group of Universities
The University of Cádiz participates, with the presence of its rector, Francisco Piniella, in the International Meeting of Rectors on the pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela that is being held these days at the University of Santiago.
In this meeting, the rector of the University of Cádiz has presented the consortium of the “European University of the Seas” (SEA-EU), whose coordinating institution is the UCA University, with the universities of Western Brittany (England), Kiel (Germany), Gdansk (Poland), Split (Croatia) and Malta.
The objective of the project is the articulation of a new European model of cooperation between universities. The project of the European University of the Seas (SEU-EU) is among the 17 approved by the European Commission, with three Spanish universities among the coordinators of the different projects selected: Cádiz, Barcelona and Granada.
The European University of the Seas (SEA-EU) is structured through a set of key ideas: the development of long-term sustainable educational inclusion projects, the promotion of European identity, the constitution of a model for other foreign universities, the promotion of values ​​with a common governance, the articulation of combined studies in several countries and the increase in the mobility of students and staff, as well as the promotion of innovative methodologies and practical teaching aimed at the labor market or the mutual recognition of qualifications.
